Mission Statement: The mission of the Island Community Chorus is to encourage singing and enjoyment of choral music through the presentation of public concerts to the Island community.
The Island Community Chorus, founded in 1996, is a beloved cultural institution on Martha’s Vineyard – in the words of the Vineyard Gazette, “one of the joys, and certainly the pride, of its community.” Under the leadership of our music director, William Peek, the Chorus currently rehearses on Monday nights at the Edgartown Library community room in Edgartown.
MUSIC DIRECTOR: William D. Peek, Jr. — William “Bill” Peek was appointed Music Director of the ICC in the summer of 2022. Before moving to the Vineyard in 2017, Bill enjoyed an active career as a performer, director, church musician, and teacher in the New York metropolitan area. He served the historic First Unitarian Church in Brooklyn Heights, NY, as Music Director and Organist for nearly three decades. For 21 years, he was on the music faculty of the Portledge School in Locust Valley, NY. Bill holds the Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College. Here on the island, he has been Music Director and Organist for the summer services at Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs since 2013, and has served the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury as Music Director and Organist since 2017.
ACCOMPANIST: Molly Sturges — Molly Sturges is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Notre Dame. For almost 20 years she performed regularly as keyboardist for the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut.
